The sponsorship gives Carwood a platform to promote its portfolio of high-performance, competition starters, alternators and batteries under the Carwood Brise name.
Coventry, 1 July 2021: Carwood is excited to announce a new sponsorship deal with up-and-coming racer, Tom Rawlings. Following successful spells in karting, rallying and more recently the Monoposto and Mini Challenge UK, the talented young driver is competing in his first season in GT racing with Paddock Motorsport – a new team founded by British GT Champions Martin Plowman and Kelvin Fletcher. The deal, which includes branding on both Rawling’s McLaren 570 GT4 and race suit, will provide Carwood, and its performance arm, Carwood Brise, with an exciting platform to promote their portfolio of competition starters, alternators and batteries, whilst also supporting exciting homegrown racing talent.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tom to the Carwood family,” comments Kevin Mulholland, Managing Director, Carwood. “Tom is a hungry and talented driver, eager to make his mark in motorsport – something we’re intent on doing too. Having combined more than 40 years heritage in motorsport, under the Brise name, with the world leading technical capabilities of Carwood, we’re committed to take the company in an exciting new direction. This includes continued investment in our customer and technical support services and a bold new product road map with some of the industries lightest, yet most powerful, high-performance starters, alternators and batteries. We like to think of it as marrying the best bits of the old, with the new.”
“I am equally delighted to partner with a company that’s just as passionate about cars and performance, as myself,” adds Rawlings. “With a line-up of starting and charging solutions for classic, competition and specialist road cars, Carwood epitomizes the ultra-high standards of performance and durability that I strive for in my racing every day. Making it a natural fit.”
Formed in 2007 as a premium GT sprint, The GT Cup has firmly established itself on the UK racing calendar. This year’s championship sees 24 teams compete in a series of sprint and pit stop races over seven race meetings, concluding with the season finale at Snetterton in October. The 2021 season will be broadcast live online, in hour long highlight programmes for each round, shown on-demand and on amazon prime in over 80 countries, and will also feature in leading media publications such as Autosport Magazine and Motorsport News. This will ensure a highly visible platform for the Carwood brand.
